This major benchmark was achieved by Joe Root in just 521 matches. With this achievement, he surpassed the record of the great Indian player Sachin Tendulkar, who reached this level in 522 matches. Currently, only Indian star batter Virat Kohli leads him in this ranking, having accomplished this feat in 490 matches.
In the match against Sri Lanka, Root demonstrated a very measured start to the game. He successfully countered both fast and spin bowlers, gradually finding his rhythm. During his innings, he not only displayed magnificent drives but also skillfully used reverse sweeps against spinners. He played a useful innings of 44 runs, scoring 5 fours off 52 balls.
