IT Park Uzbekistan Joins Asia-Pacific Computing Industry Organization

A press conference was held in Tashkent at the Museum of Olympic and Paralympic Glory regarding the upcoming participation of the delegation of Uzbekistan in the Asian and Para Asian Games to be held in Aichi-Nagoya in 2026. The Uzbek team plans to participate in 42 sports events at the Asian Games and in 11 disciplines at the Para Asian Games, including several debut categories.

The event gathered Deputy Minister of Sport Shahrullo Mahmudov, Deputy Chairman of the National Paralympic Committee Hikmat Toshmatov, Paralympic champion of Paris-2024 in para athletics Yorkinkbek Odilov, as well as representatives from the media and the sports community.

At the Asian Games, Uzbek athletes will represent 42 sports, 36 of which are part of the Olympic program. For the first time, representatives of Uzbekistan will participate in disciplines such as beach volleyball, volleyball, sailing, squash, and MMA.

Shahrullo Mahmudov commented on issues related to Japan's hot and humid climate, stating that the weather conditions will not be an obstacle for the republic's athletes. He emphasized that the conditions are the same for all participants, and all necessary opportunities for adaptation are provided for the athletes.

Speaking about the potential for winning medals, the deputy minister noted that thanks to state support, the chances of athletes are equal in all categories of disciplines. Furthermore, he explained the decision to send only the women's team to the handball tournament because it has higher chances of successful performance compared to the men's team.

Hikmat Toshmatov provided information on the preparation for the Para Asian Games. At the competitions in Aichi-Nagoya, Uzbek para-athletes will participate in 11 sports, three of which are new to the country: para fencing, para archery, and boccia.

The delegation of Uzbekistan is participating in the first International Space Summit, which is taking place in Paris from September 9 to 10. The event was organized at the initiative of French President Emmanuel Macron and is being held at the Grand Palais.

Uzbekistan is represented by Bobur Khodjayev, Head of the Department of Financial Technologies, Digitalization, and Artificial Intelligence of the Presidential Administration of Uzbekistan, as well as Minister of Digital Technologies Sherzodom Shermatov.

The main focus of the summit is the future of the space industry. Participants are discussing issues of international cooperation, the development of the space economy, science and technology, as well as ensuring the safety and sustainability of space activities.

Representatives from 90 countries and international organizations are present at the event, including about 60 heads of state and government, ministers, specialists from space agencies, astronauts, experts, and startups. More than a thousand leading companies in the space industry are represented at the summit.

Participants are analyzing current problems in the space industry, considering potential joint solutions and opportunities for exchanging experience and knowledge. Special attention is paid to strengthening international interaction and creating conditions for the sustainable development of the space sphere.

Within the framework of the summit, round tables were held on the topics of 'New Space for a Rapidly Changing World,' 'Space Security: Europe's Response,' and 'Vision for Future Space Infrastructure.' Panel discussions were also held on the global space economy, security, cooperation, as well as science and research.

Nineteen renowned astronauts from fourteen countries arrived in Paris. Among them are French astronaut Thomas Pesquet, Italians Samantha Cristoforetti and Luca Parmitano, Germans Alexander Gerst and Matthias Maurer, UAE astronaut Sultan Al Naeadi, and Turkish astronaut Alper Gezeravcı.

The wide composition of participants provides opportunities to exchange views on the current state and prospects of the space industry, discuss new opportunities, and establish contacts for future cooperation. A welcoming ceremony for the astronauts was also held within the framework of the summit, attended by French President Emmanuel Macron.
