Air France is restoring seasonal direct service between the cities of Cape Town and Paris for the summer season of 2026/27, which will simplify travel between these two locations.
The route will resume on September 22, 2026, offering passengers a direct flight from Cape Town International Airport to Paris-Charles de Gaulle. The service will operate until March 27, 2027, with the number of weekly flights increasing as the season progresses.
For those planning a trip to Europe, this means no need for a layover. Furthermore, it provides a convenient route for tourists from France and other European countries wishing to reach Cape Town during the peak summer season.
From September 22 to October 31, Air France will operate three flights per week between Cape Town and Paris, departing on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays. The departure from Cape Town is scheduled for 00:15, and arrival in Paris will be at 12:15 the same day. Since the flight departs after midnight, passengers will need to arrive at Cape Town International Airport the day before.
Starting November 1, the schedule expands to five flights per week, operating on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays. The departure time will also change to 08:30, with arrival in Paris expected at 19:20.
All flights on this route will be operated by Air France's Airbus A350-900 aircraft. The advantage of the direct Cape Town-Paris connection goes beyond simply avoiding a connection. Paris-Charles de Gaulle is one of Air France's main hubs, allowing travelers to continue their journey to other European destinations from the French capital. Thus, for South Africans planning a multi-city European trip, the route from Cape Town to Paris could be the first part of a larger journey.
The return journey is also convenient: tourists from France and other parts of Europe can reach Cape Town without needing to transfer in Africa or the Middle East.
Wilson Tauro, Manager for South Africa at Air France-KLM, noted that the increase in weekly flights to five during most of the season will give travelers greater flexibility when planning European trips. Since the seasonal service takes place during the summer in the Southern Hemisphere, it also coincides with a convenient time for those who wish to replace the warm months of Cape Town with winter in France or avoid European winter for summer in Cape Town.
