According to a statement from the U.S. National Hurricane Center, Hurricane Polo reached maximum Category 5 on Tuesday near the Pacific coast of Mexico, but it is expected to remain at sea.
The storm intensified from Category 4 while rotating southwest of Mexico. The National Hurricane Center reported that the maximum sustained wind speed reached 160 mph (260 km/h). Furthermore, it was noted that Polo is still capable of causing life-threatening flooding and landslides.
