Czech archaeologists discovered a significant site with the remains of at least twenty mammoths during the construction work on the Palace of Justice. In addition to animal bones, researchers found stone artifacts, hearths, and other signs that this camp was used by humans.
Preliminary estimates indicate that people visited this site approximately 28,8–25.6 thousand years ago. According to a publication in the Journal of Archaeological Science: Reports, this is the first documented large and anthropogenic concentration of mammoth bones in the Bohemia region dating back to the Gravettian period.
