Unlike previous years, the National Film Awards are being held in Gujarat this time, not in Delhi. Before the awards presentation on the red carpet, Randip openly discussed the reasons behind his decision to bring the story of Vire Savarkar to the screen. He stated that it was extremely important to convey this story to the general public.
Hooda noted that the public tends to believe that India gained freedom solely through non-violence. However, in his opinion, this is not the case, as an armed revolution also took place. He added that many figures, from Subhas Chandra Bose to Savarkar, participated in this revolution, but this aspect has received insufficient attention. The film's goal, according to Randip, was to introduce viewers to this aspect of armed struggle.
The actor-director called Savarkar an 'influencer' of this revolutionary movement. He emphasized that the film aims to shed light on the less known part of the struggle. For Randip, this was a double cause for joy, as 'Swatantrata Veer Savarkar' became not just a film, but his first major step as a director, for which he is now receiving a national award.
For the filming of the Savarkar movie, Randip underwent a very unexpected transformation that deeply affected his health. At the 72nd National Film Awards ceremony, 'Article 370' was recognized as the Best Feature Film, 'Bhangar' will receive the Best Non-Feature Film award, and 'Ram-Nami' will win Best Documentary.
In the acting category, the Best Actor award will go to Mamuti for 'Brahmuygam' and Kartik Aryaan for 'Chandu Champion'. Additionally, Yami Gautam will be honored with the Best Actress award for the film 'Article 370'.
This time, the National Film Awards ceremony will take place in Gujarat against the backdrop of the famous Statue of Unity. Preparations for the event, which will last about 75 minutes, are underway at an accelerated pace. A German aluminum structural dome, designed to accommodate approximately 1000 guests, will be installed near the Statue of Unity to create a grand atmosphere.
At a high-level meeting chaired by the district collector of Narmada, Ganga Singh, issues of security, protocol, guest reception and movement, as well as venue management and other organizational matters were discussed in detail.
