ONGC has made a major gas discovery in a deep-sea well located approximately 43 kilometers from the coast of Odisha. This find was made in the Mahanadi basin on September 18 at a depth of about 1450 meters. This discovery is considered extremely important for India as it could potentially reduce the country's import bill for oil and gas.

The company reported that gas has been flowing steadily from this well over the last three days with good rate and pressure. However, information regarding the exact volume or total gas reserves has not yet been disclosed. Further verification will be conducted to determine the amount of gas that can be extracted from this well and whether commercial extraction will be profitable.

ONGC stated on social media that it will continue searching for oil and gas in deep and ultra-deep marine areas. This discovery occurred when, two years ago, in 2024, ONGC was already conducting gas surveys named Utkal and Konak in the same Mahanadi basin.

The new well, named MDDV 28, is located approximately 23 nautical miles from Konak and is situated in water about 770 meters deep. It is the first of four wells planned to be drilled under ONGC's current campaign. Drilling of well MDDV 28 began on July 25.

This initiative is part of the 'Samudra Mantran' program aimed at exploring untouched deep-sea areas of the Mahanadi basin. According to a government agency, this basin is estimated to hold about 45 million tons of resources onshore and about 100 million tons in shallow waters, while the assessment of the deep-sea portion is not yet complete.

The central government approved 'Samudra Mantran' in July with a budget of 84,084 crore rupees, which will run until 2030–2031. The government hopes this will lead to an increase in the country's hydrocarbon reserves by more than 600 million tons.

Minister of Petroleum and Natural Gas Hardeep Singh Puri called this discovery a significant achievement for India's marine exploration program. He noted that combined with other finds in the region, there is potential for development using common infrastructure assets, which will reduce both costs and time.

99 has introduced 99Recarga Elétrica in Rio de Janeiro (RJ), a new application designed to consolidate various electric vehicle charging networks into a single interface. This service was implemented in the city with over 150 partner stations and offers discounts ranging from 10% to 20% for eligible partner drivers, in collaboration with EzVolt.

The platform allows users to locate electric charging points by geographical area, check the real-time availability of charging points, and view offers directly through the app. Furthermore, it aggregates stations belonging to the Tupi and EzVolt networks.

Since the discounts were activated in July, the operation has already shown growth in the state capital. Records indicate that approximately 100 users have performed over 300 charges across 30 stations. According to 99 itself, the user base of 99Recarga Elétrica in Rio de Janeiro has shown a monthly increase of over 10%.

Access to the application is universal; users just need to search for '99Recarga Elétrica' in their mobile app stores, download it, and register. However, the discount benefits are exclusive to eligible partner drivers, whose identification is made through the CPF registered on 99 and linked to an electrified vehicle.

This novelty not only expands the set of solutions offered by 99, which continues its superapp strategy by integrating new conveniences for those who use the platform to earn income—turning charging into part of a more integrated mobility experience—but also helps increase the national electric charging infrastructure and drives the shift of the Brazilian fleet towards a more sustainable mobility model.

Mitsubishi has introduced the GLS version of the Eclipse Cross, expanding the mid-size SUV line and establishing a new entry point with a price of R$ 155,990. This value represents a reduction of R$ 21 thousand compared to the Rush, which was previously the most affordable configuration in the line, and the launch occurs approximately three months after the presentation of the 2027 lineup in Brazil.

However, this cost reduction implies certain changes in the equipment package. The GLS version does not come equipped from the factory with the 10.25-inch multimedia center, which is offered as standard only starting from the Rush. Furthermore, it omits the rearview camera and the Type A USB port located at the front.

In place of these items, the GLS features four speakers installed in the doors and has electrical preparation for sound. The seats are upholstered in fabric, following the Rush standard, and the manufacturer's online configurator shows only one available paint color: solid Fuji white.

Even as the lowest-cost configuration, the SUV preserves several important features, including seven airbags (covering front, side, curtain, and knee), 18-inch black-finished alloy wheels, LED daytime running lights, digital air conditioning, cruise control, electronic stability and traction systems, tire pressure sensor, color screen onboard computer, and leather-wrapped steering wheel.

The engine remains the 1.5 turbo MIVEC gasoline engine, generating 165 hp and 25.5 kgfm, and is always coupled with the CVT automatic transmission with eight-speed simulation. The GLS version is available exclusively with front-wheel drive. The suspension structure follows the line standard, using MacPherson independent suspension at the front and multi-link with coil springs at the rear.

The dimensions of the Eclipse Cross remain unchanged across all its configurations: 4.54 meters in length, 1.80 meters in width, 1.68 meters in height, and 2.60 meters wheelbase, in addition to a ground clearance of 21.5 cm. Mitsubishi has not yet released the official fuel consumption for this new version; however, in other front-wheel-drive configurations, the recorded figures are 10.3 km/l in the city and 11.3 km/l on the highway, using gasoline.

The price change repositions the model in the competitive landscape. With a value of R$ 155,990, the Eclipse Cross GLS now competes directly with intermediate versions of compact SUVs, such as the Volkswagen T-Cross 200 TSI (R$ 152,890) and the Hyundai Creta Comfort (R$ 156,590). Although it gains in size and power compared to these competitors, it suffers a loss in standard content.

This strategy aims to revitalize a name that had lost relevance in the segment. Between January and August 2026, the Eclipse Cross registered sales of 4,975 units in the country, a volume considerably lower than that achieved by its main rivals in the same period, such as Jeep Compass (36,431), Toyota Corolla Cross (25,564), and Caoa Chery Tiggo 7 (17,964).
