Russian researchers have restored the appearance of an ancient Pomor ship whose debris was found ten years ago in the northern part of the Novaya Zemlya archipelago. The vessel was a karbas.
According to dendrochronological analysis data, the construction of this ship began no earlier than 1691. It is assumed that the wood used to build the ship was sourced from the territory of the current Arkhangelsk region. This finding was reported in a publication placed in the scientific journal Dendrochronologia.
