Representatives of the Agency for the Development of Medical and Pharmaceutical Industry of Uzbekistan participated in the international pharmaceutical exhibition CPHI Shenzhen 2026. The event took place in the Chinese city of Shenzhen from September 16 to 18, according to the agency.
During the exhibition, the Uzbek side held meetings with representatives of pharmaceutical companies and industry figures from China and other countries. These negotiations covered topics such as localization of production, technology transfer, establishment of joint ventures, implementation of new production projects, and cooperation in scientific research.
Investment opportunities in the pharmaceutical industry of Uzbekistan were also presented to foreign companies. The parties discussed promising projects and the possibility of their practical realization.
The CPHI Shenzhen 2026 exhibition was held at the Shenzhen Convention and Exhibition Center and covered a wide range of areas of the pharmaceutical industry, including drug manufacturing, biotechnology, pharmaceutical equipment, and the intellectualization of production and laboratory technologies.
Uzbekistan's participation in this exhibition served as a platform for expanding contacts with international participants in the pharmaceutical market and discussing new forms of practical and investment cooperation.
During his visit to the Republic of Korea, Alisher Temirov, Director of the Center for Pharmaceutical Product Safety of Uzbekistan, visited the production facilities of the pharmaceutical company Unimed in the Osong and Asan districts.
The delegation from Uzbekistan familiarized itself with the modern technologies used in drug manufacturing in South Korea, as well as with product quality assurance and safety control systems. The approach to integrating research and development activities with production processes was discussed.
At Unimed's production sites, participants were shown the processes of manufacturing biological preparations and medications, as well as the technological lines and main stages of production. Special attention was paid to practical quality control mechanisms, increasing production efficiency, and implementing advanced technologies.
The parties also reviewed the company's research and development activities. In particular, participants studied the laboratory infrastructure, procedures for developing new pharmaceutical products and improving existing medicines, as well as mechanisms for applying research results in production.
The dialogue covered prospects for further development of pharmaceutical cooperation between Uzbekistan and South Korea. Priority areas included expanding knowledge and technology exchange, improving specialists' qualifications, and implementing joint projects. Both sides paid close attention to ensuring the quality and safety of pharmaceutical products.
The Minister of Investments, Industry and Trade of Uzbekistan, Laziz Kudratov, held a meeting on September 9 with Hamad Zafar Hundal, the newly appointed head of the Islamic Development Bank's (IsDB) regional office in Almaty.
During this meeting, the minister congratulated Hamad Zafar Hundal on his appointment and wished him success in his future endeavors. The parties discussed opportunities to deepen multifaceted cooperation between Uzbekistan and the Islamic Development Bank.
Particular attention was paid to the implementation of priority projects in the areas of water resource management and agriculture, transport infrastructure, energy, education, and healthcare. Following the negotiations, both sides confirmed their readiness to continue cooperation aimed at expanding partnership, promoting new investment initiatives, and implementing joint projects.
The Agency of Uzbekistan for the Development of Medical and Pharmaceutical Industry held an online meeting with representatives of the United States Pharmacopeia (USP) to discuss strengthening the scientific and professional foundation of the pharmaceutical industry, according to the agency.
One of the central issues at the meeting was strengthening human resources and expanding professional experience exchange. Participants considered the possibility of sending Uzbek scientists and specialists to leading USP laboratories and other institutions.
The proposed format is designed to provide Uzbek specialists with practical experience and contribute to improving their qualifications. Special attention was paid to the potential involvement of USP experts in the laboratory and research infrastructure being established in Uzbekistan.
The parties also discussed programs for experience exchange and practical training involving USP specialists. Furthermore, participants considered the possibility of implementing advanced international approaches developed by USP when designing and equipping modern research centers and laboratories in Uzbekistan.
The goal of these discussions was to further enhance professional competencies, expand practical cooperation with international experts, and utilize USP's experience in building a modern research base for Uzbekistan's pharmaceutical industry.
